Face-to-Face

Courses in 2021

General Information

With the current uncertainty it is impossible to plan whether we will be able to offer you any face -to-face courses in the coming year.  However, in partnership with a couple of our lovely venues we have come up with a plan to advertise these workshops and to run them if we can in August 2021.  If you would like to attend one of these workshops just register your interest by sending me an email.  I will contact you about 5 weeks before the workshop is due to begin to see if you still want to take part, at which point you will need to pay the workshop fee in full if you choose to attend.  Obviously, we currently have no idea whether any of these workshops will be able to go ahead or how many participants we will be allowed to have.  This means that we will allocate the places on a first come, first served basis: I'll create a spreadsheet of your enquiries and will offer places to those people who are at the top of the list first.

Cambridge

10:00-16:00, Monday to Thursday, 2-5 August 2021, £399

Situated in the heart of Cambridge, this sketchbook workshop offers sketching opportunities all over the centre of the city.  Depending on the restrictions that are in place, we will sketch in local cafes, in the Zoology Museum, and also all of the classic views of Cambridge that are accessible to the public.  This workshop takes you through the process of collecting visual information, researching, drawing and experimenting.  4 days of connected, interesting pen & ink drawing projects (with additional instructions for students who choose to work digitally) to inspire and develop your sketchbook activities, Monday to Thursday (2-5 August 2021, £399).  Lots of fun and suitable for everyone.

The venue is Wesley Church Hall, King Street, Cambridge (10:00-16:00 each day), which is only 5 minutes’ walk from the market square (note that there is no parking available in this venue).  We go out into the town each day to collect visual information, this may include a stop at a café to sit and draw from life (depending on whatever Covid-19 restrictions are in place at the time) and then come back to the studio to work from the images we have collected.  The course includes high quality pdf course notes that describe all of the drawing exercises.

Saffron Walden

10:00-16:00, Monday to Thursday, 16-19 August 2021, £399

Saffron Walden offers almost unlimited possibilities for sketching: beautiful and varied architecture, Bridge End Garden, a busy town centre and market, as well as historic features.  Another great set of drawing projects based on this lovely town taking you through the process of collecting visual information, researching, drawing and experimenting.  4 days of connected, interesting pen & ink drawing projects (with additional instructions for students who choose to work digitally) to inspire and develop your sketchbook activities, Monday to Thursday (16-19 August 2021, £399).  Lots of fun and suitable for everyone.

The venue is Fairycroft House, Saffron Walden (10:00-16:00 each day).  Fairycroft House has parking and is only 5 minutes’ walk from the market square.
